Common Pantry, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit food pantry, was founded in 1967 to combat hunger and food insecurity in specific northern neighborhoods of Chicago. Common Pantry is dedicated to eliminating hunger and food insecurity in our community by both providing accessto emergency food supplies and addressing deeper social service needs that cause people to need our emergency food services. Common Pantry is led by a volunteer-based Board of Directors, comprised of community members and business professionals. Day to day management of the organization is handled by our Executive Director, two part-time staff and over 100 volunteers. Our programs address immediate needs for food supplies as well as provide a much needed resource for related social service needs. Support for our organization is far reaching; including schools, local businesses, elected officials, faith-based organizations and residents of the communities we serve. Compassion, patience and understanding are the cornerstones of our organization and drive us to achieve our mission each day.
