Opened in 2004, True Grounds rooted itself in Ball Square offering the community the fresh homemade baked goods, healthy sandwiches & salads and highest quality coffee & teas. Baked fresh every morning, our scones are a neighborhood favorite. And brewing George Howells Terroir coffee, you can have some of the best coffee out there. Our breads, dressings, sauces, spreads and soups are all made in-house. Our pastries are made from scratch. We offer over 20 different loose leaf teas and make the full spectrum of espresso drinks. We proudly carry local products from Somervilles own Taza chocolates, Qs-Nuts and MEM Teas along with other local goodies from Curtis Street Bakery (who provides us our gluten-free baked goods) and George Howell coffee which is roasted in Acton. Shortly after opening, the cafe was selected as one of the top 10 coffee houses in the nation by USA Today putting Somerville as the only city not nationally recognized such as Seattle, Miami, San Francisco, etc. Weve been told we have the warm charm of a small community spot youd find in rural Vermont. Several local authors have written their books within our walls. We appreciate giving a tight-knit community feel in our environment.
