Established in 2014. Thip Khao is the home of genuine Lao food in Washington DC. We want to welcome you into our restaurant as family whether you are a newcomer or veteran of our funky, fermented, and spicy cuisine. Come join us for a food adventure! In December 2014, Thip Khao opened as the only Lao food establishment in the heart of the nations capitol by Chef Seng Luangrath, Eater DCs Top Chef of 2015 and leader of the #LaoFoodMovement in DC. Thip Khao is dedicated to providing a #TrueLao dining and cultural experience for all of our guests. We are dedicated to our Laotian roots in the way our food is prepared and delivered. Chef Seng and her son Chef Bobby continue to innovate Lao cuisine using local ingredients, sourcing from local fisheries, as well as putting a new twists to old favorites. We have an ever evolving menu that is truly reflective of Chef Seng and her teams imagination and dedication to Laotian authenticity. Since our opening, Thip Khao has been nominated 50 Best New Restaurants in America by Bon Appétit and was a top 3 finalist for Eater DC Restaurant of the Year 2015. Lao food is continuing to grow in popularity and has been featured in many publications.
