The Bear Trap Inn

The Bear Trap Inn is a quaint supper club located off County Road B known for fine steaks and seafood. We are famous for our garlic stuffed tenderloin (GST), pan seared walleye, and the Bear Trapeze. Owner Tom Baertschy believes in honoring past traditions; such asdisplaying nearly 100 pumpkins during Halloween, filling the pond with trout, and showcasing flowers from local businesses. Over the years The Bear Trap Inn has supported local businesses and organizations to stay connected to the community. Tom has introduced new events to the Northwoods such as Farm-To-Tables, the Cast Iron Classic, and private parties. The Bear Trap Inn has been a staple in Land O Lakes, WI since the mid 1930s, originally named the Wannigan opened by Vi and Walley Becker. The building has remained the original structure but continues to grow in history. In 2014, Tom Baertschy became the proud owner of the Bear Trap Inn. Hailing from a family of restauranteurs, Tom has used his years of experience to put his personal touches on this fine establishment. He is a graduate from Northland Pines High School and spent his youth in Northern Wisconsin. His family formerly owned The Colonial House and Baertschys Pine Gables. When he turned 18 he moved to Madison to continue his education and experience in the restaurant industry. At the age of 26 Tom opened a restaurant, 8 Seasons in Madison, WI. He now lives in Land O Lakes, WI year-round with his fiancé, Madison and their two dogs. Tom continues to gain experience by traveling around the world discovering new recipes to use at the Bear Trap Inn – look out for his New Orleans inspired Remoulade, as well as Thai inspired dishes.
