Stone Mill Bakery has always been a small, family business with hands-on participation by several generations of the Himmelrich family. Originally started over 20 years ago as a wholesale bakery operation dedicated to bringing handmade European style breads to Baltimore, Stone Mill has evolved into both a wholesale and retail bakery as well as a vibrant café serving breakfast, lunch and dinner and a full service on and off premise catering business. Always conscious of staying true to our roots, the backbone of the business is our handmade, artisan breads sold wholesale to Baltimore and Annapolis area restaurants, hotels, markets, caterers, colleges, and other area institutions. Our breads, pastry and desserts are also available retail at our Lutherville café, as well as our menu of handmade from scratch soups, salads, sandwiches, dinners and as of June 2012, our brand new line of hand made gelato & sorbetto. Stone Mills success is in large part a function of the dedication and talent of our employees. Surrounding himself with talented individuals who share his vision and commitment to excellence has always been a priority for owner, Alfie Himmelrich, and he believes in creating a collaborative work environment where each individual can take pride in his or her contribution to the final product.
