Always innovative yet true to the southern roots so celebrated in this region of South Carolina, Rivertown Bistro finds the perfect fit between form and function in food. Dine on the upstairs deck overlooking tranquil historic downtown Conway. Sup in the private upstairs dining room or spend an elegant evening in the two-tiered main dining room. Happy Hour in the Bar Tuesday Saturday 5pm-7pm. Great prices on eclectic cocktails, beers, wine, and small bites. 2014 Trip Advisor Award of Excellence! The Rivertown Bistro opened on June 7, 1994 and soon developed a reputation for unique dishes and unsurpassed service. An expansion in 2001 allowed the restaurant to offer a private dining and bar area with the same style and atmosphere as the rest of the facility. Late on the night of January 30, 2008, fire struck and closed the Rivertown Bistro for just over a year. Though a disaster to be sure, it was heartwarming to see the community pull together to support the Smiths and the rest of the staff during this trying time. When it was finally time to reopen (February 9, 2009) hunger for the Bistros offerings was evident on the smiling faces of staff and patrons alike. While Darren Smiths uncommon culinary talent is evident, it was his brother Scott who was instrumental in getting Darren interested in the culinary field. Darren, who attended Winthrop University, first met Cyndi, a graduate of the College of Charleston, while he was working as executive chef of Shem Creek Bar & Grill, One Eyed Parrot, and Banana Cabana. The couple moved to Cyndis hometown of Conway in 1994 where, at the age of 25, the two opened the Rivertown Bistro. For over a decade the restaurant grew in reputation and size. In Decem
