The Old Building–a restored 74 year old building, originated as the R & H Grocery Store, owned by Roy and Herman Plessala. 20-foot high pitched, original wooden ceilings restored, staircase built through the original dumb waiter, warming area, indoor/outdoor bar, mezzanine seating, second story terrace–plays an elegant host for momentous occasions. Enjoy a view of the Atchafalaya River from the second story terrace on a beautiful day, or under the stars and string lights, along with a walk a few feet alway the river. Were a specialized, versatile space that can be customized for your needs. From casual, costumed, or unconventional to black tie, your event is unique. My name is Colleen Nicklas Askew and I am the owner of The Old Building with my husband Carter. We have 4 children, Abigail 24, Andrew 21, Adam 20, and Aaron 16. I came upon an old, rundown building in our great downtown area and decided to transform it into a venue. Our Grand Opening was September 25, 2020.
