Family and Community Services, Inc. is a 501(c)3 non-profit corporation headquartered in Portage County, Ohio. The agency began in 1941 as the Catholic Charities Bureau of the Ravenna Deanery with just two programs and two staff members. Today, FCS is a diverse social service agency that operates 70 programs with over 600 staff members. Family & Community Services has grown substantially through the years and particularly during the past decade, to where it now provides a broad array of services to the community. With the guidance of its visionary Board of Trustees and CEO of nearly thirty years, FCS has gained a well-earned reputation for being a transparent and effective entrepreneurial force in the social services community. Through a combination of government grants, local foundations, charitable contributions, donations, and the work of thousands of volunteers, FCS has been able to meet growing community needs and provide help to those who need it most. Family & Community Services serves nearly 200,000 adults and children each year. The impact of these services is magnified further through the efforts of 3,600 volunteers who are dedicated to its programs and its mission. FCS extends its reach to 23 counties in Ohio and four counties in Michigan.
