Marrones Pizzeria has a long and storied history that dates back to the 1940s. Although the restaurant has evolved in some aspects to better serve their clientele, it remains dedicated to the same simple principle providing Ardmore with the best Italian cuisine around. After serving in the Army during WWII, Peter found himself unable to find a job. Marrones first opened as a one-room mens bar with a dart board, shuffleboard, and very cold beer. Our delicious pizza was served as a snack for the men and was eat-in only. Soon, however, the men started to request pizza to take home and our business changed forever. Pasta and meatballs were added to the menu soon after, and the bar was enlarged to include a dining room and a ladies room. In the 1950s the back half of the building was remodeled and the Marrones family moved upstairs, the entire bottom floor was designated for the restaurant. Today our menu has added a few more items but we have always remained true to the simple restaurant that was the dream of Mr. and Mrs. as they were so fondly called. No last name was needed. The recipes have remained the same and if you ask any of our loyal customers not much has changed about us at all. Marrones has been owned since 2000 by Peter and Frances daughter Patti and her husband Bob.
