Detailed Information

The Rub is a place where you can feel comfortable, be yourself and leave with a satisfied appetite and probably a few more friends. The menu is a depiction of Jonathan, his life experiences and where he and his family have been, including the root of it all his original restaurant and catering space which has been in Hedwig Village since 2008. What began as a catering and private cooking company and evolved into a restaurant after high demand from those it was cooking for. The Rub stands for the Hamlet Soliloquy to be or not to be, which was inspired by Jonathans mother who used to recite Shakespeare when he was a kid. The Original Jonathans The Rub offers a large, eclectic menu that perfectly blends Jonathans Brooklyn roots and love for international cuisine with Texas comfort classics. There are more than 50 dishes to choose from including nightly off-menu chef creations which Jonathan orchestrates based on whats in season, whats in the kitchen, and how hes feeling. Theres something for everyone, including specialty seafood, new Houston cuisine, hearty salads, sandwiches, award-winning burgers and other prized dishes. Its also one of Houstons few BYOB restaurants. Diners often bring cellared favorites in, which the restaurant then skillfully pairs their collectible wines with a delicious meal. Jonathans use the best quality ingredients to create upscale dishes that are served in a relaxed, cozy setting. Sam, Jonathans son, manages the Original locat
