Jill Howard

I grew up in a renovation. When I was younger, my parents purchased a lovely fixer-upper in the foothills of Virginia, and my love affair with beauty, making things and creating a home began. My parents involved me in everything from learning how to use the electric saw (with lots of supervision), to selecting wallpaper from a range of samples. Ultimately that house became not only a beautiful backdrop to some of my fondest memories, but also the spark that led me to help others create their own home. After a few years working in the world of management and marketing, I decided to follow that spark, and studied at the New York School of Interior Design. Since then, I have worked with Architectural Digest Top 100 designers, most notably Tom Scheerer and Jesse Carrier, before opening my own design studio in 2012. After a decade in New York City, I now live in Charleston, SC with my husband Matt, rescue dog Kieran and cat Kitty. Today Jill Howard Design Studio provides designs for everything from large scale residences to commercial projects. My studio works with architects and contractors to bring the distinct visions seen in my work to life. Combining the best of the past with modern design, comfort and ease, I create gracious and warm spaces that are designed for living. Light filled rooms, colorful textiles, natural elements, earthy textures and a mix of old and new, high and low are the elements that define and can always distinguish a Jill Howard designed home.
