Haynie's Corner Pub

Adjacent to the Ohio River in downtown Evansville Indiana, a creative community of 4 neighborhoods (Riverside, Culver, Goosetown, Blackfords Grove) define the Arts District. The heart of the Art District is a unique corner defined by a shift in the cities grid, multiple arteries meet at a fountain (constructed in 1979). Historically, the Haynies Corner area has undergone multiple transformations. A symbol of community, advocacy, preservation, and regeneration its future sits with art, design, and architecture. Come join us on First Fridays, and infuse your senses with the scene that is taking hold of the Haynies Corner Art District! There are new restaurants and bars showcasing art and music, a brewery, galleries, and retail and spa. More is coming and we cant wait to share the dynamic changes that are happening in our district. The Haynies Corner area has a long history, dating back to the first plat in the1830s. A node of special development, several neighborhoods converged here. The first special development here was in 1888 when George Haynie erected his drug store. The neighborhood took its name from this druggist and his store became the nexus of this special part of the city. The building of the Alhambra Theater across Parrett Street from the drug store in 1913 further sealed the special nature of the area. Other neighborhood friendly businesses followed. The Haynies Corner Arts District was created through the work of passionate people who believe in the community and in the arts. This work is ongoing, with many volunteer opportunities annually. Whether its beautifying the Corners landscaping, working at one of the many HCAD events, helping out at Patchwork Central, or just joining friends to carol in the neighborhood, you can be a part of the volunteer fun!
