Detailed Information

DIVE Cincinnati is a highly respected and well-known springboard diving club in the United States. It was started in 1986 by Steve Voellmecke and now attracts divers of all ages and ability levels from the Greater Cincinnati, Northern Kentucky and Eastern Indiana areas. From the true beginner to the State Champion, some athletes drive more than an hour each way to be a part of this program. Many divers who have gone on to national and international success in the sport of diving, got their start in the DIVE Cincinnati Program. Our diving program has ALWAYS STRESSED LEARNING TO DIVE USING SOUND FUNDAMENTALS IN A SAFE AND FUN ATMOSPHERE . We encourage all of our divers to go as far as their abilities and desire will take them — even if it means transferring to another local team or program. All diving practices take place at the Albright Health Center on the campus of Northern Kentucky University. The facility there has TWO Durafirm one-meter and ONE Durafirm three-meter diving stands — all with 16-foot Modified Maxiflex Model B Diving Boards (aka Cheeseboards) — the same diving boards used in the Olympic Games! The water in the diving well is 13 feet deep and is kept at a comfortable temperature year round. In addition, there is a hot shower located just behind the diving boards in which the divers can stand while waiting their turn. At DIVE Cincinnati we stress one-on-one instruction allowing each diver to learn at his or her own speed and ability. Our diver to coach ratio is small — a maximum of EIGHT divers allowed per practice group. All practices last for one hour — although divers can register to dive for as many or as few hours per week as space permits. Perhaps the thing we are most proud of with our diving program is the number of former divers who stay involved in the sport of diving long after their careers with us are over. We have had countless DIVE Cincinnati Alums who have served as summer league and high school diving coaches, officials
