Cook's Buffet Cafe Bakery

Michael Cook is the son of the late Bob Cook. In 1984 Michael married Star Hubbard, daughter of Betty Hubbard and the late Johnny Hubbard. Michael and Star have two children, Michael Jr., born in 1985 is our Assistant Manager working along side his father. Channing, born in 1987 and her husband Andrew live in Stuart, Florida, where she teaches 3rd grade. The Cooks are long time members of Stetson Baptist Church in DeLand. The opening of Cooks Buffet, Cafe and Bakery has been a family affair. The whole family had a part in the designs, setup and color choices. The outside colors were chosen by Michael Sr. and the interior colors were chosen by Michael Jr. Star was foremost in the hiring of our front of house staff. Overall, Michael Sr. has created and brought back to life this historic building and business. Star who previously worked at Florida Hospital-DeLand since 1985, has taken on the additional roles of overseeing the office staff and handling all of our computer needs, programming and publications, including our website. We love what we do, and love to meet and visit with our patrons. Do not hesitate to ask to see one of us or even take a tour of the kitchen. We look forward to making you a part of our family.
