A lot of Thai restaurants in America focus on central Thai cuisine, so people are most familiar with dishes like pad thai and curries. We want to introduce people to regional Thai cuisines and expand what Thai food means to people. My dad is from southern Thailand,closer to Malaysia, and my mom is from the northeast, closer to Laos. The idea of Chao Baan is to bring those two regional cuisines together under one, harmonious concept. This is the story of our family. Shayn Prapaisilp Chao Baan is excited to be part of the St. Louis food scene and neighbors with some amazing restaurants and nightclubs in The Grove. Close to Forest Park, Cortex and SLU, we hope you stop to visit us for a quick bite, shared plate or date night.
