Carroll Distributing Company

Carroll Distributing & Construction Supply, Inc. is one of those success stories that was never planned. A chance encounter back in 1954 set in motion the start of a new company selling concrete form ties in the Midwest. While in Colorado, Royce Carroll (who owneda lumberyard with his brother Dick in Ottumwa, IA) happened to come into contact with Gates & Sons, a new manufacturer of concrete form ties in Denver. Gates was looking for distributors across the country to represent them and help sell their new invention. Upon returning to Iowa, Royce discussed the opportunity with Dick and the two of them decided to give it a try. Rapid success by Carroll in the state of Iowa led to the companys first branch location in Aurora, Illinois. Chicago contractors began using Gates forming systems provided by Carroll to construct many of the high rise buildings that make up the Chicago skyline. In 1984 an office was opened in Des Moines in order to better service the new State of Iowa Historical Building with forming materials and supplies. Continued growth led to further expansion in the Midwest. The 90s saw locations established in Frankfort and Hopedale, Illinois; as well as St. Paul, Minnesota. In 1997 the operations of Mallak Form & Supply in New Ulm, Minnesota was added to the company. The new millennium saw a new store established in Marion, Iowa. Representation of Wall-Ties & Forms led to Carrolls expansion into the states of Nebraska, Ohio and Michigan. Further growth in the Midwest has been accomplished by adding the operations of Allied Construction Specialties, Spencer Building Products, Foundation Forms & Supplies, United Construction Products, Construx Supply and Concrete Clinic. Carroll Distributing currently has 25 locations in 9 states. Today the product lines represented by Carroll Distributing & Construction Supply are as diverse as the project needs of its contractor customers.
