My name is Leanne Paine. I am the creator of Black Market Cake and the head baker and designer. I have been making unique cake creations for over 25 years. I started as a kid, just making cakes for family events. At 12 years old, I entered and won my first cake decorating competition. My Mothers friends started asking me to make cakes for them. My first four tiered 50th Anniversary cake made me a bit nervous. I was only 16. But they all had more confidence in me than I did. And all went well. After high school, it was off to college to get my art degree. After school, I decided to be a stay at home mom but the cake requests just kept coming. My friends paid me to create birthday cakes of all shapes and sizes. And they soon added wedding cakes to the requests. For years, I continued to bake and was just enjoying the creativity. But everyone kept pushing me to really make a business out of it. So… here we are today. I am so thankful to all those who pushed me for years.
