Established in 2011. Big Easy Snowballs brings authentic New Orleans-style snowballs to Tallahassee. A snowball is NOT a snow cone – we make our own ice and shave it using industrial shavers that are the best in the industry. The result is powder-fine ice that soaks up the flavors rather than letting them soak through. Big Easy has over 66 flavors- something for everyone. We have simpler flavors like Tigers Blood and Blue Raspberry to more decadent selections like King Cake, Nectar Cream, Chocolate and Coffee. Our signature snowball is a stuffed snowball – any flavor snowball stuffed with lowfat French-vanilla soft-serve ice cream. You can also top your snowball with condensed milk (the New Orleans favorite), evaporated milk, chocolate syrup or marshmallow fluff. We have an extensive menu including many exclusive combinations that have been invented by us, our employees and our customers; two of our menu items are named after our customers! Stop & see us – you wont be disappointed! The owner, Brenda, is a New Orleans native and transplant to Florida. One day she and John, the other owner, were walking around Railroad Square during a First Friday event when Brenda asked John where are the snowballs? John replied there is a snow cone vendor right there. Brenda responded That is NOT a snowball; the next time were in New Orleans Im going to take you to get a snowball. LIttle did either of them know that that was the beginning of authentic New Orleans style snowballs in Tallahassee. John & Brenda built their original shop in January, February and March of 2011 all by themselves – from the tile floors to the signature Mardi Gras bead bar – they did it all. Word begain to spread about their amazing product and they soon outgrew the space and parking of their first store and in August, 2012 they moved five blocks away to the Cottages at Lake Ella. Big Easy now is situated right on Lake Ellas walking path with outdoor and indoor seating.
