Detailed Information

The B&B Cafe is one of the oldest restaurants in Castle Rock and continues to be a popular gathering place for locals. Much of what you see here today was in the original restaurant. Whether you believe the B was named after the Benton Family who purchased the Sandwich Shoppe at our current location in the mid 1940s; the B&B has history. There are many stories as to where the Italian marble and onyx back bar originated. Most say it was brought down by railroad from Leadville in the late 1920s. The original tin ceiling could tell stories of its own; and the booths have joined many guest in friendship. In the 1940s the cafe not only fed local towns people, but also the prisoners who were marched from the jail across the street twice a day for their daily meals. The expanded south side of the restaurant was once the local butcher shop owned by Phillip Miller. In the early 1938,a group of businessmen, including the father of the current landlord, approached Mr. Miller to raise money for a new bank. These men were loyal friends of Mr. Millers and became stockholders in The Bank of Douglas County – one of the most successful banks in Colorado History. The service of Marshall Ray Lewis is honored here at the B&B. On the tragic day of February 14, 1946, a fugitive, wanted for shooting two Denver Police Officers, was recognized as he wandered into the restaurant. Some patrons approached the fugitive and Marshall Lewis & Deputy Lowell were summoned. As Lewis stepped in to protect the residents and apprehend the criminal, he was shot and killed. The two stray bullet holes in the ceiling and back-bar still serve as a memorial. Were conveniently located off of I-25 and on Wilcox Street in Castle Rock, Colorado. We are both a Breakfast destination and a local favorite, and we are open every day for breakfast and lunch, ready to serve you.
