Mandalay Restaurant and Café brings dishes from all over Burma to the DC area. We do not specialize in the cuisine of any particular area of Burma (Myanmar), instead we bring a mix of dishes from the seasides to the mountains, using fresh ingredients and time tested recipes. Our chef (and our mom) is formerly the head chef of the Burma restaurant in Washington, DC. Mandalay Restaurant & Cafe is a family owned and operated business. Our family includes first, second and third generation Americans of Burmese origin. On the floor nearly every day you can see Joe and Aung. If you have been to the Mandalay more than once you have probably met them both. Mandalay Restaurant has received critical acclaim from the Washington Post, the Washingtonian, the Baltimore Sun, and WAMU. Mandalay has been named ten times by Washingtonian magazine as one of Washington D.C.s 100 Best Bargains. We appreciate the support shown to us doing these times.We wanted to bring to everyones attention that we will be open until mid 2021 at 930 Bonifant street, Silver Spring, Maryland.
