Corned Beef & Co Inc.

Corned Beef and Co. was created in 1985 just prior to the legendary flood of November 1985. The first restaurant was actually not a restaurant at all but merely a stand in a food court with no private seating. Corned Beef and Co. was the first signed tenant in theHistoric Market Building located in the heart of Roanokes Market Place- often thought of by many as the catalyst that started the big restaurant boom downtown. The business quickly grew and relocated to the front corner of the building, making it the only full service sit down restaurant in the market building and the only business to be open past 6:00 p.m. The restaurant company continued to grow over the years with locations at Crystal Spring and Grandin Road that were both sold to former Corned Beef and Co. managers. One of the original founders, Roger Neel, continues to run the company and has consolidated the operation under one roof (well, not exactly one roof, since we moved to this location, we have expanded several times) to the current location of 107 S. Jefferson St. Since we moved to our current location, we took over a former restaurant (where our stage, brick oven and roof top deck are now) and a clothing store (where our billiards room is now). On St. Patricks Day, 1999, we unveiled our latest and fourth expansion. Phase IV was completed just in time to hold a press conference and ribbon cutting ceremony with guest of honor, Roanokes Mayor David Bowers. Phase IV is comprised of three billiard tables, a dance floor/dining area, a video wall of televisions and granite topped martini bar. We use Phase IV to suit a wide variety of needs. On some days it is a large meeting room for lunch, another day it may be used to host an upscale Christmas Party and on Friday and Saturday nights the dance floor is in tune to all sorts of music.
