The Surry Arts Council Presents: I know that most of the folks reading this web posting are very familiar with Mayberry Days, but it is important for those that do not know to find out. If you have been before, I am sure you are planning to come back. If you have never been to Mount Airy during Mayberry Days.you are in for a treat. According to the Surry Arts Council: Mayberry Days is a festival for the whole family with activities and events for the fans who long for the days when life was simple and the sheriff didnt carry a gun. Enjoy a bottle of pop while playing checkers, relax to music from many local bands playing the same songs that Andy grew up with and performed on The Andy Griffith Show. There is so much to do during the festival such as watching the parade, meeting the Special Guests, laughing at Colonel Tims Talent Time, placing the high bid at a Silent Auction or taking in all of the music at the many venues. Remember to take time to slow down and enjoy what Mayberry means to you. What this does not tell you is that Mount Airy comes alive during this weekend. Mayberry character actors are everywhere. Mayberry themed treats and souvenirs are at their best and of course, no trip to Mayberry would be complete without a World Famous Pork Chop Sandwich from the Snappy Lunch. As we work to survive the heat and dry weather we lose track of the time. We have blinked and the summer is almost over. We did close for a week in July just to give the crew a few days off. We apologize to anyone who may have come to visit and found us closed. We are so sorry, but business was slow and we all needed a break. This was a very rare happening.
