The mission of Communities In Schools (CIS) is to surround students with a community of support, empowering them to stay in school and achieve in life. CIS fuels personal potential, so every student can take charge of their story and define their success for life.Every year, over 1.2 million students drop out of high school. The CIS model includes holistic supports and wraparound services implemented with high fidelity across our statewide network of affiliates, and is validated by a 5-year independent evaluation resulting in the strongest reduction in school dropout rates of any existing fully scaled dropout prevention program. We serve kids at risk of falling behind in school, disengaging from learning, and dropping out. The COVID-19 pandemic poses increased risks that have profound effects on child wellbeing. We provide emergency help, access to technology, food, and PPE supplies in crisis situations. Students with substantial needs receive targeted support like tutoring, mentoring, and counseling.
