The Brass Rail Inn was built in 1922 as the home of two sisters. Before long, they converted it into a Tea Room. In 1939, the business was sold to a San Franciscan, who then remodeled the Tea Room and upstairs bedrooms into a very profitable, though rather risqué business venture: a brothel. In 1944 the business sold and was converted into a dinner house. After passing through the hands of several owners, it was then purchased by Jeanne Johnson in 1978. The restaurant has beautiful redwood interiors, hand carved ceiling beams, and antiques built from the famous old growth redwood forests. In addition Jeannie inherited a friendly ghost, who she nicknamed George. The spiritual being is said to be a bit of a prankster, and has been seen by some of our more enlightened customers. In 1996, the Brass Rail Inn was passed on to Jeannies son, Fred Davis, who has carried on the tradition of his historical inn and world class restaurant. As your gracious host he hopes you enjoy your stay here and wishes you bon appetit! The Inn and the Lounge are open 7 days a week, year-round. Dining Room hours vary by season, so please call ahead!
