Kush Hospitality, the restaurant group behind LoKal, Kush, Miami Brew Bus and The Spillover, is ready to indulge the citys collective sweet tooth with Vickys House, a 12-seat milkshake bar and tasting room inspired by Kuschers childhood home and the totally tubular vibe of 80s pop culture. And just who is Vicky? Its none other than Kushs mom herself. You always have to go back to where you come from. For me, thats a hard-working family with integrity. And I built this to always remind myself of where I came from and to pay tribute to my mom and all the other moms out there, said owner Matt Kuscher. Vickys House is a complete recreation of Matts mothers house circa 1986. Since Vicky never threw anything away, Matt was able to duplicate it using the same cabinets, chandeliers, yellow flower wallpaper and linoleum floor mirror in the Kush matriarchs design aesthetic, with an original 1980s oven standing in as storage for the bars glassware. An original Galaga arcade cabinet sits in the wood-paneled family room, while an adjacent washing machine stocks frosty cans of PBR. In the bathroom, guests will find Kushs original bedroom dresser and the toys he played with as a child. Guests are going to feel like theyve taken a time warp into the early 1980s. People of my generation may never want to leave. Aside from milkshakes, the shop also offers floats, ice cream sandwiches from the Wynwood Parlor, locally-made ice cream from Dasher & Crank, a variety of snacks from Miami Smokers, two versions of red and white wine cheap and betteras well as cans of PBR and specialty beers. On the first Wednesday of every month, Vickys House will host a tasting of local craft snacks and beverages from 5-8 p.m. Theyll also be serving up free Cuban coffee made from the family-owned cafe La Llave at 3:05 p.m. daily.
